If you feel stuck in Scripture—bored, overwhelmed, or quietly guilty—Lectio Divina can be a gentler doorway. It’s not about mastering a passage. It’s about letting a passage read you.
Step 1: Read (Lectio)
Choose a short passage (5–10 verses). Read slowly. Notice a word or phrase that shimmers—something that tugs at your attention.
Step 2: Reflect (Meditatio)
Hold that word/phrase. What does it stir in you? Comfort? Resistance? Tears? Numbness? Curiosity?
Step 3: Respond (Oratio)
Speak honestly to God about what you notice. No fancy prayers required. Truth is the language of prayer.
Step 4: Rest (Contemplatio)
Sit quietly for a minute or two. Let God love you without you earning it.
Lectio Divina is not a technique to “get something.” It’s a way of consenting to presence—God’s presence and your own.
